Unfortunately, the Jules Rimet Cup was embezzled twice and finally destroyed, leaving the FIFA World Cup Soccer no choice but to design a new trophy. The FIFA World Cup Soccer Trophy became the new award given at the 10th World Cup Soccer tournament in 1974. As a solution to prior thefts of the trophy, the current World Cup Soccer champion team is given the trophy to hold until the following tournament, then a replica is given as a replacement.
