Traditionally, the NFL commissioner presents the Super Bowl trophy to the winning Super Bowl team after the game is over. Since Super Bowl XXX (1996), the Super Bowl trophy is presented to the winning team’s owner on the field following the game. Previously, the Super Bowl trophy was presented in the winning team’s locker room. After the Super Bowl trophy is awarded, it is sent back to Tiffany & Co. to be engraved with the winning team’s name.
Just in case of trophy damage during the post-Super Bowl celebration, there is a back-up Super Bowl trophy. Un-like the Stanley Cup in the National Hockey League and the Grey Cup in the Canadian Football League, there is a new Super Bowl trophy created every year, and the winning team remains the permanent owner of that trophy.
