Super Bowl XXXVIII took place on February 1, 2004, in Houston, Texas at Reliant Stadium. This was the thirty-eightieth championship game of the National Football League. Super Bowl XXXVIII had the American Football Conference (AFC) Champion New England Patriots against the National Football Conference (NFC) Champion Carolina Panthers.

In Super Bowl XXXVIII, New England (17-2) defeated Carolina (14-6), 32-29, on a 41 yard field goal kicked by Patriots’ kicker Adam Vinatieri with 14 seconds left. New England quarterback Tom Brady was named Super Bowl XXXVIII MVP for the second time in three years. Brady threw for 354 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and 12 rushing yards.
