Major League Baseball (MLB) is considered the most popular and utmost level of professional baseball in the world. Its popularity not only includes the U.S. and East Asia, but other countries such as Japan, Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Taiwan and South Korea. Baseball World Series History has been woven into American culture and the World Series is an event anticipated as much as holidays such as Christmas and New Years. 

Although, the precise origin of the sport is unidentified, historians agree that baseball is a version of an English game called Rounders. The history of Baseball and the World Series can be assumed to have begun in 1845, when Alexander Cartwright decided to implement formalized rules so that teams could play. Amateur teams and clubs were eventually formed as the sport started to attract people to learn to play.

By 1871, the National Association took over the sport and scouted eight teams. Out of these eight original teams only the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are still competing in the professional sport today. Unfortunately with interferences from gamblers, the National Association did not succeed and was replaced by the National League in 1875. Up to that time, the players themselves were the owners and managers of the teams but the National League changed that by having businessmen operate the league’s teams.

Throughout Baseball World Series history other baseball associations emerged to compete with the National League but none succeeded. In 1901, twenty six years after the birth of the National League, the American League was permanently added making its mark on Baseball World Series history. Like the National League, the American League also started out with eight teams. The National and American League signed a National Agreement in 1902 that paid way to the World Series championship title in Major League Baseball. 

• Throughout Baseball World Series History this championship game being played every year since 1903, with the exception of 1904 and 1994. 
• Throughout Baseball World Series History there has been only one exceptional team who has reigned in 26 of the 39 championship games they have appeared in.  This team is the New York Yankees.   
• Since the beginning of Baseball World Series History the American League has won sixty championships and the National league has won forty-one.  There have also only been three tie games.

Major League Baseball can be considered one of the world’s greatest and most popular sports ever. With the beginning of the Major League season in early April to the end of October when the World Series playoffs are played, fans all over the world are able to show pride and support for their hometown or favorite team.
