Although, the precise origin of the sport is unidentified, historians agree that baseball is a version of an English game called Rounders. The history of Baseball and the World Series can be assumed to have begun in 1845, when Alexander Cartwright decided to implement formalized rules so that teams could play. Amateur teams and clubs were eventually formed as the sport started to attract people to learn to play.
By 1871, the National Association took over the sport and scouted eight teams. Out of these eight original teams only the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are still competing in the professional sport today. Unfortunately with interferences from gamblers, the National Association did not succeed and was replaced by the National League in 1875. Up to that time, the players themselves were the owners and managers of the teams but the National League changed that by having businessmen operate the league’s teams.
Throughout Baseball World Series history other baseball associations emerged to compete with the National League but none succeeded. In 1901, twenty six years after the birth of the National League, the American League was permanently added making its mark on Baseball World Series history. Like the National League, the American League also started out with eight teams. The National and American League signed a National Agreement in 1902 that paid way to the World Series championship title in Major League Baseball.
