How are the nominees and winners for the Grammy Awards selected?
The nomination process for the Grammy Awards requires that members vote only in their fields of expertise. The members can nominate works in the four general categories: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, and nominate works in no more than nine out of the 31 fields on their ballots. When the nominations for the particular Grammy Awards categories are secured, the NARAS members may vote in the four general categories, and in no more than eight of the 31 fields. Ballots for those Grammy Awards nominations are tabulated in secrecy by major independent accounting firm, Deloitte Touche Tohmastu.
