What does the word “Emmy” mean?
The name Emmy is a female version of “immy”, a nickname used for the image orthicon tubes in early television cameras. The Emmy Award itself is a statuette of a winged woman holding an atom. The wings represent the muse of art; the atom, the electron of science.
