Super Bowl XXXVII

Super Bowl XXXVII took place on January 26, 2003, in San Diego, California at Qualcomm Stadium. This was the thirty-seventh championship game of the National Football League. Super Bowl XXXVII had the National Football Conference (NFC) Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the American Football Conference (AFC) Champion Oakland Raiders.

 

In Super Bowl XXXVII, Tampa Bay (15-4) defeated Oakland (13-6), 48-21. Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon threw five interceptions in Super Bowl XXXVII, three of which were returned for touchdowns. Buccaneers’ safety Dexter Jackson, who had intercepted two of Gannon’s passes and returned them for 94 total yards, was named Super Bowl XXXVII MVP. With the Super Bowl XXXVII MVP award, Jackson become the second safety and third defensive back to ever be named Super Bowl MVP.
