Throughout the FIFA World Cup Soccer tournaments, there have been some great World Cup Soccer champions, wins, and milestones. Since 1930, the FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament has produced high impact excitement for fans and the soccer players as well. Here is a wrap up of all the FIFA World Cup Soccer tournaments, winners, and scores.

 

In the 1930 World Cup Soccer tournament, the World Cup Soccer inaugural tournament champions were Uruguay, beating Argentina 4-2 in Montevideo, Uruguay. World Cup Soccer 1934 was held in Italy and Italy became World Cup Soccer tournament champions. Italy beat Czechoslovakia 2-1. The World Cup Soccer 1938 champion was Italy again, this time in France, beating Hungary 4-2.

 

The 1950 World Cup Soccer tournament was the first World Cup in 12 years because of World War II. This tournament was held in Brazil, and that year’s World Cup Soccer champion, Uruguay, was the first team to receive the Jules Rimet Cup. During the World Cup Soccer Switzerland 1954, the FIFA celebrated their 50th anniversary. West Germany began first time World Cup Soccer champions that year as well. Brazil became World Cup Soccer tournament champions in 1958’s World Cup Soccer tournament in Sweden, and that year also marked the debut of soccer legend, Pele.

 

The World Cup 1962 returned to South America after 12 years, when the World Cup was hosted in Chile. Brazil became two time World Cup Soccer champions, with a victory over Czechoslovakia, 3-1. England became a World Cup Soccer champion in 1966, with a triumph over West Germany, in their home country. It was and has been the first and only win for England. Mexico’s World Cup Soccer tournament in 1970 saw Brazil become three time World Cup Soccer champions with a win over Italy, 4-1. Brazil was allowed to keep the Jules Rimet Trophy permanently.

 

The 1974 World Cup Soccer tournament took place in West Germany, and the host nation became World Cup Soccer champions a second time. This year was the first time that the current FIFA World Cup Soccer trophy was awarded. Argentina hosted and had their first World Cup Soccer championship win at the 1978 World Cup tournament, winning in exciting fashion, in extra time over the Netherlands, 3-1. The 1982 World Cup Soccer tournament was held in Spain, and with Italy winning that year, they tied Brazil with three World Cup Soccer championship wins. This was the first World Cup to feature 24 teams. The World Cup Soccer tournament returned to Mexico in 1986, and Argentina became World Cup Soccer champions once again.

 

In World Cup Soccer Italy 1990, West Germany crowned themselves World Cup Soccer champions by beating Argentina 1-0, in Rome. This was West Germany’s third World Cup Soccer win. 1994’s World Cup Soccer tournament was hosted in the United States, the first World Cup ever in that country. Brazil was the World Cup Soccer tournament champion, and was the first World Cup Soccer team to win four World Cup titles. Their win against Italy, was the first final to be decided by penalties. France’s first World Cup Soccer championship win was in 1998, and was the first host nation to win the World Cup since Argentina in 1978.

 

World Cup Soccer South Korea/Japan 2002 saw Brazil become five time World Cup Soccer champions, with a win over Germany 2-0. This was the first World Cup organized by two countries. The 2006 World Cup Soccer tournament gave Italy its’ fourth World Cup Soccer championship win over France 5-3 in a penalty shootout.
